In the NICU where my baby stayed, a nutritionist would bring a cart of goodies around the unit a couple of times every day to offer to the parents. I’m pretty sure the nutrition cart saved my life!
I was pumping a ton and living off of the cafeteria and vending machines, and I was always hungry. The nutrition cart had milk, orange juice, apple juice, fresh fruit, and I think it even had some crackers. I took advantage of the free food every chance I got and always gave the nutrition lady a hearty smile and thank you!

Wow! What a great idea! Our NICU didn’t offer this. I just ate PB&J sandwiches and water in the waiting room everyday for seven weeks. Six years after our NICU experience, I still can’t eat PB&J!
Our NICU didn’t do this either… although it would have been great! I lost A LOT of weight while my son was in the NICU because I hardly took the time to eat, and food wasn’t even allowed in the NICU.
Our NICU didn’t have this either but they did give me coupons for free nutritional meals and drinks from the cafeteria, so that was nice to save money on food through the 5 weeks I was there.
WOW you had a great NICU! I had to wait for hubby to get home from work. I would have dinner ready for him & the kids and run out without eating. On the way home (10-11pm) I would grab bk. Needless to say I gained during Ava’s NICU stay.
our NICU didn’t have this either but we had a kitchen instead with a microwave so wasn’t too bad.the food on the maternity ward was amazing tho
at least the NHS can get something right lol thier kosher meals are lovely 
we got meal tickets from the cafeteria when I was a pt but when i was discharged we were on our own
Our NICU did not, but we did get a meal discount in the cafeteria. However, when one of my Grandaughters was transferred to HASBRO Children’s Hospital PICU, they did come around once daily with a variety of snacks & drinks. Plus we were able to get the employee discount in the cafeteria there too.
Nope, that would have been awesome. I mostly brought food and ate it in the waiting room or lounge. Or ate before or after I came to the NICU to see our son.
In Sweden we had a kitchen outside the NICU where you could get free coffee and sandwiches. They also had a couple of microwaves an a big fridge and freezer. In another hospital they had a kitchen in a special area in the NICU.
