Afton Mower About Afton Mower

After Mower (UT) lost her firstborn son at 21 weeks.  Her daughter was born a year and a half later at 27 weeks.  The NICU was overwhelming and isolating and it was through those two experiences she was led to found this social hub for parents to find the support they needed. Afton also gave birth to another daughter, born two days overdue after four months of strict bedrest. She believes it is a tender experience to hold a special baby in your arms when his spirit returns to his heavenly home, a miracle to watch tiny babies survive the risks of prematurity and a blessing to hold a healthy full-term baby after months of difficulty and sacrifices. Thanks so much for sharing… we’ve adopted a 24 week preemie who is now 18 months. We got her at one year old but never saw pictures. She is such a little miracle. We are trying to learn as much a possible about her past as a preemie and what the future may hold. Hope to connect with some others.

  9. I lost my identical twin girls in 1977, they were 9 in. long and barely over a pound. I never got to see them. Doc thought it wasn’t a good idea too traumatizing. I never got over it. I found this site and i looked at the pic’s. It gives me some idea what they might have looked like. They said they had lots of hair more than they have ever seen. They were 23 weeks gestation. This sitle helped me a little. thanks
