Afton Mower About Afton Mower

After Mower (UT) lost her firstborn son at 21 weeks.  Her daughter was born a year and a half later at 27 weeks.  The NICU was overwhelming and isolating and it was through those two experiences she was led to found this social hub for parents to find the support they needed. Afton also gave birth to another daughter, born two days overdue after four months of strict bedrest. She believes it is a tender experience to hold a special baby in your arms when his spirit returns to his heavenly home, a miracle to watch tiny babies survive the risks of prematurity and a blessing to hold a healthy full-term baby after months of difficulty and sacrifices. 1. Thanks so much for putting these slideshows together. It’s wonderful to see how many of our little miracles are doing so well. And it really does put life into perspective for friends and family who peripherally through this with us.

  2. they were wonderfull slideshopws, i love being there for parents who bring their stories to me, and i feel lucky every day for my son was so big compared to most 28 weekers, i must have been farther along because he was 3 pounds, but so many complications, but now at almsot 3 he is healthy as can be and now i can be there for others who went through what i went through. I love these pages because they have their own way of helping and believe me it helps!

@ Megan, my 28 weeker was 3 pounds 4.2 ounces and my due date was correct. So we were both very lucky to have bigger preemies. These stories do help others more than words could say. Preemies are proof that miracles do happen. :)
