Hand to Hold's Official Blog: Written by Parents for Parents

{Giveaway} Deanna Fei’s Girl in Glass – Autographed Copy!

girl in glass deanna feiLast November I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a luncheon presented by Patient Privacy Rights, a nonprofit organization based in my city of Austin. The guest speaker was none other than author Deanna Fei, who made headlines when she wrote an article for Slate titled My baby and AOL’s bottom line, after then AOL CEO Tim Armstrong claimed two “distressed babies” were the reason the company had reduced some employee benefits (Fei’s husband was employed with AOL at the time).

When she spoke at the luncheon, Fei had recently released her book, Girl in Glass: How My Distressed Baby Defied the Odds, Shamed a CEO, and Taught Me the Essence of Love, Heartbreak, and Miracles. Hearing her speak on her experiences with privacy violations was infuriating, but her story, above all, is inspiring. You can read contributor Katie’s review of Girl in Glass, as she writes about it much more eloquently than I do.

Fei’s book far exceeds her goal in drawing the reader in to a micro-prematurity journey mirroring the experience with public media outcry. The book successfully engages a reader in to the heartfelt uncertainty of her micro-prematurity journey, giving voice to what NICU parents often feel but cannot express.

Along with getting to meet Fei and listen to her presentation, she also gave us a signed copy of Girl in Glass to give away to one lucky reader. That could be you! Just enter through the Rafflecopter below. Winner will be selected on February 10, 2016. Good luck!
