well i just shared my story on here with everyone about my precious callie. Well God blessed me in my life, after such a tragedy, with my precious baby girl Madisyne Layne. She was a preemie at 32 weeks, 4 pounds 4 ounces. She is the light in my once dark tunnel. She brought hope and peace and love back into my life that I thought I had lost for ever. I have been blessed with knowing my angel preemie and now have been blessed with my earth angel preemie!

Personally knowing at least 4 of the preemie babies featured here, it has completely changed the way I see pregnancy and Preemies themselves. I had always heard that a preemie baby would always be at a disadvantage not being able to fully develop, etc..but my Niece and two nephews have all blown that idea out of the water seeing how they have always been WAY above average for their age with their motor skills and verbal communications. Two of them are the same age as my oldest child (who is the top of his kindergarten class) and in my opinion my niece and nephew are farther along than he is.
I've learned that just because one is a preemie it does NOT mean they will have a disadvantage growing up.
On top of that all, after seeing what my Sister and friends have gone through with preemies, I have come to appreciate my babies and the ease of my pregnancy as such a blessing..not merely as what is normal but as truly a blessing, and it makes me even more grateful each day that these amazing, beautiful preemie babies have survived and are blessing our lives today.

Being a preemie baby myself, I'm glad that I survived being born 7 weeks early (31 years ago that was a big deal)! I also am glad to know Maggie and see how happy and healthy she is now and it helps me to appreciate my ability to have healthy full-term pregnancies and babies.

I've been very blessed to know my sweet niece who was a preemie. She's a thriving three year old now, and the happiest little girl ever! I could never have appreciated what the mothers and families of preemies go through without watching my sister and all of her struggles. I often wished it could be me instead of her because it's so hard watching someone have a difficult time and feeling like you can't do much to help them. First, so much time in the NICU--time spent in fear and anticipation while away from family and friends, then so much time spent at home afterward (away from public germs), and all the sickness and doctor appointments along the way. AND, on top of that the desire, but fear, of trying to have other children. . .What a blessing to the whole extended family for us to watch the trials and triumphs of our loved ones as they have gone through the experiences of having a very preemie preemie!

I had never really given much thought to any chances our baby would be born early. We didn't have any complications during pregnancy until a routine exam showed severe preeclampsia. Our little girl was born the next day weighing in at 1 lb. 9 oz.

Watching her trials and struggles in the NICU during the next 9 weeks and 3 days made me realize that I could be a fighter just like my little girl. On the days that I thought I couldn't go on anymore, all I had to do was think of her and everything she had faced and was going to have to face to make it home with us. She's been home for 2 1/2 months now and is thriving. I've never seen a happier baby. She's been such a trooper.

My husband and I tried for six years to get pregnant and I had this perfect cubby cupid like baby in my mind when I found out that I was expecting. So when my baby came in this world at 35 weeks tiny wrinkled and red and beating all odds she was going to be still born, I knew she is the baby I was born to have and that she was a perfect replica of my heart in human form. And now two yeaqrs later I am glad Gods threw a wrench in my perfect laid plans and I would not give anything for my still tiny little girl. She may be small but she casts a huge light in my life that noone can darken.

I am very blessed to have a preemie who is now a thriving 8 month old. The journey has made me a better peson. I now have a cause and attended my first MOD kick off meeting last week. Here were my thoughts that I think really share how this experience has changed me:

It is official....I have obviously been in denial. Denial that I am a preemie mom, yes I act the part and hibernate from germs, sanitize sterilize, see a difference in Gunner's milestone attainment...but everyday, he is a fat, healthy, and strong baby. Any outsider would never guess he is a preemie. I guess I have fallen into this mindset too, all too quickly forgetting the struggle we had to get him where he is today.

Last night, I was reminded. I went to the MOD kickoff meeting...just walking around, looking at little kids that were once preemies, meeting the ambassador family (twins born at 23 weeks 6 days, one a sweet tiny 4 year old girl, the other an angel boy), pictures on the wall, the film promoting the walk....I was a mess, unexpectedly, but very publicly...bawling. It was wonderful, but hard too.

I am even more passionate now, humbling to remember how far we have come!
