On my first Mother’s Day, our 31-week twin girls had been home for about a week. Life was still quite a whirlwind. Despite it being a beautiful day, we stayed in, ordered lunch from our favorite New York style deli, and then I took a much-needed nap. I’d only been parenting for a few days without the help of the nurses and medical staff. It was exhausting, but still wonderful.
Mother’s Day is a very emotional day for NICU parents, parents of preemies, and those who have suffered a loss.
