Afton Mower About Afton Mower

After Mower (UT) lost her firstborn son at 21 weeks.  Her daughter was born a year and a half later at 27 weeks.  The NICU was overwhelming and isolating and it was through those two experiences she was led to found this social hub for parents to find the support they needed. Afton also gave birth to another daughter, born two days overdue after four months of strict bedrest. She believes it is a tender experience to hold a special baby in your arms when his spirit returns to his heavenly home, a miracle to watch tiny babies survive the risks of prematurity and a blessing to hold a healthy full-term baby after months of difficulty and sacrifices.

Comments

  1. Today I am thankful that my little one is a fighter and was able to fight through the NICU to be home with us now. She is the best blessing my husband and I could have asked for and we count ourselves lucky to go home each night to a healthy baby. Even when everything else is going wrong, she can make us smile 🙂

  2. Stacey Roberts says:

I am thankful that I found my way back to God. I would have never known the blessings or recognized the gift of life that I know today if I had stayed on the same path I was on.

  3. I’m thankful i get to see my hubby tomorrow it has been a month since we have all seen him.

  4. I am thankful that I didn’t listen to my OB and that we chose to get a second opinion. After my premature rupture at 17 weeks, we didn’t lose hope. I stayed on bedrest and went into the hospital at 24 weeks and stayed there until our son arrived at 28 weeks 6 days gestation! He spent 112 days in the NICU and is now 14 months old actual/11 months adjusted! We have ourselves a miracle and if it weren’t for us believing in him, our new doctors, and all the prayers….he wouldn’t be where he is today!

  5. Today I’m grateful for life. It is such a precious thing and so many people take it for granted.

  6. Casey is now 6.5 months (4,5 adjusted) Some days our time in the nicu feels like yesterday and other times a lifetime ago. He is doing great. The joy he brings is amazing. He is our miracle baby after years of infertility.

  7. ahhh.. i am thankful that our little bird is doing something new everyday. today she recognized herself in the mirror for the first time, and it is just precious.

  8. My nephew was just born premie and will be in the NICU for a few more weeks. This would be such a GREAT gift, I would love one!

  9. I’m thankful for making a full recovery from my HELLP Syndrome and that my 31 weeker is making great progress and gaining weight. She’s the love of our lives!
